although that's not a BAND, it's a person... but neways...

and i think she was around in the 60's also...

AS A YOUNG 70'S ROCKER, I LISTENED TO FOGHAT, CHEAP TRICK, KISS, PINK FLOYD, UFO, AC-DC, RUSH, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, QUEEN, THIN LIZZY, REO SPEEDWAGON, ALICE COOPER, BLACK SABBATH, TED NUGENT, EDGAR WINTER, J GEILS BAND, STYX, ALLMAN BROTHERS, MOLLY HATCHET, LED ZEPPELIN, FLEETWOOD MAC, BEATLES, STONES, .... I'M SURE I'M LEAVING OFF SOME REAL STAPLES, BUT THERE'S A FEW FOR YOU.

I am trying to get a poll for the decades and want a list of bands to include.

To me the best band of the 70s was the Bee Gees. Their incredible song writing and vocales led way to an aspiring new form of music. The Bee Gees are the greatest not only of the seventys but the greatest ever!

Black Sabbath

MotorHead

Alice Cooper

Meat Loaf

Led Zepplin

Cheap Trick

Dire Straits

Beatles

theres hundreds more..... the 70's were grand years as were the 80's.

i envy all those who lived through those grand years............

Best bands of the 70s

a no brainer....LED ZEPPELIN

BLACK SABBATH is overrated, but they still have half a dozen wicked tunes

PINK FLOYD not one of my favorite bands, but huge influences on bands such as Tool and Radiohead

SEX PISTOLS Never Mind the Bollocs influenced pretty much every band of worth throughout the 80s (of worth: NOT guns n roses or motly crue!)

NEIL YOUNG

ROLLING STONES

AEROSMITH Sweet emotion and Dream On

the 70s maybe weren't as great as they seem sometimes, musically... I personally think the 60s were better. But still, not bad... better than the 80s and maybe the 2000s.... on the strength of Led Zeppelin alone.

Too many to name them all, sadly...

And, let's assume that the 1970s started in 1969... because stylistically, it did (if not as early as 1966), with albums such as Monster Movie (CAN), Phallus Dei (Amon Duul II) and In the Court of the Crimson King (King Crimson).

Sir Lord Baltimore, Tear Gas, Stray Dog, Black Sabbath, Budgie, Rush, Atomic Rooster, Yesterday & Today, Buffalo, Ted Nugent, Mahogany Rush, Kansas, Montrose, Ufo, Three Man Army, Neon Rose, Pat Travers, Lucifer's Friend, Point Blank, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Foghat, Captain Beyond are some of my favorite 70s bands (there's countless of other bands that I like from that time).
