hey everyone, this forum rocks! i just stumbled across it and i like it so far :p... well i just wanted to know wat u guys think of downloading free music from the internet, do u think its bad? how many of u guys actually do it?? over at my universal music internship we get into some pretty heated debates about it.

I'm a high school student, so typical of my ilk, I illegally download music on a regular basis. As far as morals go, I don't really have a problem with it because I download as a means of finding new music that I may like. For example I just downloaded several songs by The Smiths and The Von Bondies, and I've grown so fond of these groups that I plan on purchasing their albums shortly. Any artist whose music I truly respect and enjoy, will undoubtedly cash in on my purchase of their music. I don't believe that illegal downloading hurts these artists significantly enough for it to be considered an issue for the artists themselves, however the record companies are suffering.

i download music all the time....jeez if they want us to buy the cds then put more songs on them and make them cheaper! BUT if u download the stuff instead of buying the cd the record labels will drop the artist because they'll assum no1 likes em and their not selling enough and so on....just my opinion tho
