Finding a song from late 80s early 90s

I know some lyrics to a song that was from either the late 1980s or early 1990s. However, I use to have the song that a friend of mine had on a tape but couldn't remember who sang the song.
Some of the lyrics are ".. you are the one that makes me laugh, you are the one that makes me cry.." I really do't remember much. I do remember the sound, beat and if I actually heard the song I would know it right away.
