Celtic Folk-influenced Punk (or simply Celtic Punk) starded in the 1960's and 1970's when folk rock bands start to mix their music with traditional irish and british instruments like bagpipes, fiddle, tin whistle, accordeon, mandolin and banjo. First were the more traditional celtic bands like The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, but after a while more modern bands came through. In the UK, The Skids was the first Celtic Punk band, te second was The Pogues. Many Celtic punk bands emerge from predominantly Irish communities in cities which are historically centers of mass Irish immigration, such as Glasgow, London, Melbourne, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. As a result, prevalent themes in Celtic punk songs include Ireland, Irish Republicanism, the Irish diaspora, drinking, and working class pride. Recently, Celtic Punk has gained succes and popularity with bands like Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys. I'm a huge fan of Celtic Punk. I love modern bands like Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, but also the old shit like The Pogues. Are there more fans of the genre?
