Hello, I am the guitar player for Cardboard Ringo. www.cardboardringo.com Tom's Take I am often asked the question????? "WHOS THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER IN THE WORLD?" Well, this is a hard question to answer, because music is like food. Some like spinach, some like meat, some like fruit, I think you get the picture. Guitar is not a sport, its an art to be enjoyed in its own way by each individual. I also hate it when I’m asked "What are your influences? “Like hey man who do you sound like”. I don’t know, why don’t you come on down and see for your self. Anyway, I do like to listen to many different types of guitar players. Honestly I could never pick just one guitar player as the best, I love so many different styles. A few of my favorites right now and from the past are : Yngwie Malmsteen The master of speed and swashbuckling. Steve Vai Takes me places I want to go. Joe Satriani Everybody loves Joe. I’m a big Jimi Hendrix fan but I don’t wanna play his stuff. Well maybe every once in a while. Jimmy Page When I was a kid I learned a lot from this guys records. I cut my "guitar teeth" on Zep Mostly on physical grafitti & presense & the live album. Micheal Schenker Ufo gotta love it! This guys solos are as sweet as sex. Perfect in every way. Listen to the album “Strangers In The Night” live album . I try not to listen to the singer to much. Micheal’s first solo album is good to, listen to the song “Into The Arena”. All through my life I have been fortunate to have herd and seen many different great guitar players. My father would give me recordings of some of the guitar players He listened to, and I have been amazed at some of the stuff he comes up with....Carl perkins,Buck Owens, Roy Clark, Duane Eddy. I've got a CD of Carl Perkins & Les Paul that is probably the best double guitar session I’ve ever listened to. Segovia if your searching for the next level. Uli Roth Check him out .A long time favorite of mine. There are some local guitar players I think are very good also: Jon Robert Quinn. This guy makes it look so easy. He is very good and very smooth, much like Joe Satriani. Graff From the band Modified is unique ,once again a very smooth G man. We got a guitar player in my town (lil 'ol Vacaville) named Pat Woods he is in the Band Autopopsuicide. This guy will burn your britches right off! Food for thought, solid state vs tube, Marshall vs line 6, effects loops and how they change the sound of your effects vs no loop.
